Amazing Zulu basket made in South Africa. These baskets are made using strips of naturally waxy palm fronds wrapped around coils of wild grasses. Dyes are made from organic materials as diverse as flower petals and mud. The smaller ones like this one are also called “beer baskets” as they are used still in some parts of South Africa as beer storage.
